AGENDA

1.  Financial Report given by Directors.
2.  Here is the list of the items that will be discussed and voted upon.

○ Dues/Qualifier Fees

Summary:  For each WPBA Qualifier. the AWBT pays the WPBA $500 for the paid spot.
We hope to recoup this money by players paying the extra $25 qualifier fee. This has not worked out at all. The average amount at each qualifier is $250.  Which causes an average deficit, per tournament, of $250 in the year-end points fund.  We do recoup a lot of it from the cue raffle, but most of the time we either barely break even, or lose money.  Because of this, someone raised the idea of either raising the qualifier fee, or raising the yearly dues, or both in order to put more $ into the year-end points fund.
What do you think?

VOTING ITEM #1: Should we raise the $25 qualifier fee?  If so, to what amount?
VOTING ITEM #2: Raise yearly AWBT dues?  If so, to what $?

○ Payouts/Prize Money

Summary:  Currently we pay the top half of the field.  But what happens if there is an odd #?  Let’ say for instance there are twenty-one people in the tournament, ½ would be 11.  The way the payouts currently work, since we cannot pay the full bracket (9 thru 12th), we round down to pay the next bracket down in full.  In this case we would round down to pay just the top 8.  Someone has raised the idea of changing this to pay out more people, to round up and pay the top 12.

VOTING ITEM #3: Change payout structure to pay only the top ¼ of the field, instead of top ½ as is currently paid?
Pro’s:  The payouts would be bigger
Con’s:  Less people would get paid out

VOTING ITEM #4: Change payout structure to round up instead of down?
Pro’s: More people would get paid out
Con’s: The pay outs would be smaller

VOTING ITEM #5:  Raise the regular entry fee?

Summary:  If we decide to do either of the above, do we want to raise regular entry fee’s to compensate if the payouts will be smaller?

○ 8-ball Bar-Box Events Plus 9-Ball Qualifiers:

Summary:  This was voted on at the Alexander’s tournament in 2007, which decided the scheduling for 2008.  The majority voted to discontinue 8-ball Bar-Box events.  However, we have not voted on it during an official annual membership meeting, so there is nothing in writing and the question was raised again.
So to settle the issue once and for all, we are having an official vote on this issue.

Note: The AWBT Board will be able to accommodate 8 TOTAL tournaments in 2008.  The plan was to have 7 WPBA Qualifiers and 1 Scotch-doubles fund-raiser.  We will be glad to add more 8-ball/bar-box events, but please understand every bar-box event added will be subtracted from the number of Qualifiers to keep a maximum of 8 tournaments.

VOTING ITEM #6: Do you want bar-box events? 8-ball and/or 9-ball?

Pro’s : The people who are for this change have the following opinions:
1.  People enjoy playing on bar-box tables
2.  More 8-ball players would play in the tournaments, which would increase the # of participants
Con’s: The people who are against this change have the following opinions:
1. The needs of the bar-box player are being met in this community.  A bar-box player can find a tournament any night of any week.  Qualifiers are rare opportunities to find.
2.  The AWBT is a Qualifying tour. The focus of the tour should remain on Qualifiers.
3.  WPBA Qualifiers get more publicity, which draws people from all over the world, and gives the AWBT more exposure in magazines, which allows us to have better sponsors.
4.  As of December 2007, the WPBA discontinued the AWBT’s ability to award WPBA points to bar-box events, which was incentive for the “qualifier” players to show up for these events.
What are your thoughts?

○ Your Directors: Dawn Anderson & Kristie Ortega

Summary:  How is your AWBT Board doing?  Currently their pay is $50 (total) $25 each per event, as a “tournament director fee”.  In addition, ½ of the year-end points fund will be paid to them at the end of 2008.
What are your thoughts?

VOTING ITEM #7: Will the AWBT board continue to be paid a “tournament director fee”? If so, what amount?
VOTING ITEM #8:  Will the AWBT board continue to be paid ½ of the year-end points fund?

VOTING ITEM #9:  Should we allow all WPBA members to play at our qualifiers? That would include Touring Pros, etc.

Summary:  Touring Pros and other top players would not be competing with you in the qualifiers. They already have “spots” in WPBA events.
Most likely they would not travel to Phoenix to play in a qualifier just for the payout. It would not be cost effective for them.
It would be good experience for you to play against better players.
They would have to pay our membership fee also. More money for our Tour!
What do you think?
