AWBT Qualifier Kolby’s Korner Pocket $500 AddedJuly 19 – 20Presented by J. Pechauer Custom Cues

Twenty-five women played in the AWBT’s 4th stop at Kolby’s Korner Pocket on July 19 – 20! This was a $500 added, WPBA Qualifier, presented by J. Pechauer Custom Cues! The qualifier was for a paid spot in the Carolina Classic to be held September 10 – 14th in North Carolina!

Sunday started off with the first 2 matches on the A side being: Nicole Keeney vs. Kathleen Lawless and Samm Diep vs. Michelle Abernathy. Nicole and Samm won their matches and both advanced on to the hot seat match. Nicole won that match 7 to 4 and claimed the hot seat!

Meanwhile, the following matches started to determine 7/8th place: Susan (Madhatter) Mello vs. Nina Tagley and Liz Bernreuter and Trinh Lu. Liz and Nina won their matches. Nina went on to play Michelle Abernathy, and Liz went on to play Kathleen Lawless for 5/6th place. Kathleen and Nina won their matches and met up next to play for 4th place. Nina came out victorious and went on to play Samm in the first semi final match. Nina won the match and went on to play Nicole Keeney for the final!

Nicole had already won the WPBA Qualifier spot going into the final, so it was the money and pride being played for at this point. The final match started with Nicole winning the lag. Since this was a true double elimination format, Nina would have to beat Nicole in 2 races to 7. In a matter of just a few minutes Nina was ahead 3 to 1. Nina dominated the match, and won the first set 7 to 3 and won the 2nd set 7 to 3.

Congratulations to Nicole for 2nd place and the WPBA Qualifier Spot! Good luck! We’ll be watching for you at the Carolina Classic! Congratulations to home-town girl Nina Tagley for winning the tournament and $300!
